Membership terms and conditions

Terms and conditions for customers joining our new membership schemes from 2021. Existing customers who joined before this date should refer to their contracted terms and conditions.

 

Membership term

  1. 'Initial Term' means the full 12-month period from the date of joining to cover a full 12-month calendar year when joining on a 'Committed' membership package.
  2. 'Initial Term' means the full 3-month period from the date of joining to cover a full 3-month period of a calendar year when joining on a 'Non-Committed' membership package.

1: Direct Debit membership and payments

1.1 Your membership will begin on the day your application to join is accepted by us.

1.2 Your membership is personal to you. You cannot transfer it to another person.

1.3 You must be at least 18 years old to purchase a direct debit agreement, for junior memberships a parent or guardian must complete this on your behalf.

1.4 Your committed membership must continue for a minimum period of 12 months.

1.5 Your non-committed membership must continue for a minimum period of 3 months.

1.6 You will need to pay the annual or pay in full fee at the point of joining to cover a calendar month or year from the date of joining on any pay in full membership package.

1.7 Monthly payments will be due on the first working day of each month.

1.8 Monthly fees will be due each month regardless of whether you use the facilities.

1.9 If you fail to make your minimum contract payments within your ‘Initial Term’, any outstanding fees due will be recoverable.

1.10 The first payment of your membership will comprise a pro-rata fee. This fee will cover you until your first direct debit payment date.

1.11 We may increase the amount of your monthly subscriptions from time to time, if we do this, we will contact you 14 days before the change is to take place.

1.12 If you do not have sufficient funds in the nominated account, it is your responsibility to make alternative arrangements to pay the outstanding fee.

1.13 If we do not receive your monthly payment, you will be refused entry until payment is received.

1.14 If you join as a couple, it is the payer’s responsibility to meet all terms and conditions of the membership.

2: Cancelling and freezing your membership

2.1 You or any linked members (adult or junior) can end your membership following the ‘Initial Term’ period, by giving at least 1 calendar month's notice in writing. Any fees that are due during the 1 months’ notice period must be paid in full.

2.2 Ending your membership during the ‘Initial Term’ will require the payment of any and all fees due under the membership agreement.

2.3 You must complete a cancellation form. These are available at Lifestyles Centres or can be emailed over to you for completion. 

2.4 The only exception for not completing the minimum term of your membership is:

  • Relocation – appropriate proof that your new permanent address is 15 miles outside of Merseyside
  • Permanent illness or injury – appropriate proof from a doctor or medical practitioner will be required
  • Redundancy – appropriate proof from your employer or loss of livelihood.
  • 14 day cooling off period - This is the time you have to change your mind if you have purchased your membership online. The cooling off period starts the day after you entered into the contract. If you have used the services during this period an administration and usage fee will be deducted from the initial payment.

2.5 In exceptional circumstances we may agree to freeze your membership upon request due to injury or medical conditions which means you are unable to use your membership.

2.6 The maximum freeze period is 6 calendar months. After this period your membership will automatically reactivate for payments.

2.7 You must complete an amendment form these are available at Lifestyles centres or can be emailed over to you for completion.

3: General terms and policies

3.1 You must comply with the general admission and gym etiquette policies at all times. We can prevent anyone from entering a Lifestyles centre if their conduct is inappropriate or puts others at risk.

3.2 We will issue you with a membership card or wristband which you must present each time you visit a centre. A fee will be charged if you do not present your card, or if you need a replacement for lost or misplaced cards.

3.3 When joining our facility you and any linked members must have a photograph taken that will be stored electronically on our membership system for verification each time you visit.

3.4 Before using any equipment in our fitness suites, you must complete a health questionnaire and undertake a supervised induction.

3.5 We will provide storage lockers for your belongings. However we cannot be held responsible for any loss of your property as a result of theft or vandalism.

3.6 We can cancel your membership immediately if your behaviour is likely to endanger other members, guests or staff or adversely affect the Lifestyles centre or reputation.

3.7 There may be occasions were we have to close all or part of a Lifestyles centre. We will do our best to let you know in advance unless the problem is urgent or an emergency. You will not be entitled to a refund or part refund in such circumstances.

3.8 We do not exclude or limit in any way our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so, this includes liability for death or injury caused by our negligence.
