Joining Lifestyles

If you're thinking about joining us, here are some answers to common questions we get asked about joining and memberships.

You can join online unless you choose a concessionary membership - you must take your proof of a qualifying benefit or student letter to a Lifestyles centre to join. Take a look at our memberships to find one that suits you.

When you join, select the centre that you want to be your 'home club'.  Once you've joined, you can use the facilities at any of our centres.

Your membership terms and conditions apply across all centres irrespective of the one that you have chosen. If the council has to close a particular centre for any reason, and this happens to be the one where you joined, you must continue to pay your membership fee and refer to the membership terms and conditions in respect of cancelling your membership and any other obligations you have as a Lifestyles member.

If you join online there is a 14 days cooling off period – if you change your mind you will receive a full refund.

You don't have to be a member to enjoy our facilities - but it will save you money if you do.

If you don't want to commit to a membership, sign up as 'casual member' and pay as you go.

See our membership options or view our general admission prices.

You'll still need to create a Lifestyles online account so you can book activities. See our booking page for more details.

If you've had a membership with us before, please visit your nearest Lifestyles centre and speak to a member of staff to re-join.

Yes. For example, if you're already tied in to a contract at another gym that requires you to give a notice period, you can delay the start of your membership with Lifestyles during the online joining process.

We have 3 simple methods of payment to suit you:

  • Direct Debit: First payment is made at time of joining giving you instant access to our facilities.
  • Annual payment: One off payment, (pay 12 months and get an extra month free).
  • Flexible: A non-committed 3 month Direct Debit or pay as you go option.

If you join online there is a 14 days cooling off period if you have changed your mind.

The cooling off period starts the day after you entered into the contract. If you have used the services during this period an administration and usage fee will be deducted from the initial payment made on the contract start date.

If you start your agreement on or before the 10th day in the month we will calculate your first fee on a daily basis (this will be labelled ‘pro-rate slider’) to cover your use until the end of that month. We will take the first Direct Debit from your bank on the first of next month.

If you start your agreement after the 10th day in the month we will again calculate a fee on a daily basis for the remainder of that month, and will also charge the full monthly (Cycle) fee to cover the following month. The first Direct Debit collection from your bank will not then be until the 1st of the month after that. For example join on 15th September your first payment will not be until 1st November.

Your membership is pending until we have approved identification status and eligibility. If you have been a Lifestyles member before and have any outstanding debt on your account, this must be paid before your membership is activated.

Yes.  On arrival to any Lifestyles centre, please ensure you bring the email you received when joining. This will have your unique reference to collect your membership card or wrist band at the centre.

Yes, your card or wristband is required for each visit. Please show it at reception so it can be swiped.  If you fail to present your membership card or wristband, you'll be charged a non-member rate.
